Parts for the F10 5 Series
The F10 is the sixth-generation 5 Series saloon, built from September 2009 to 2016, with the F11 Touring and the F07 Gran Turismo alongside it. By October 2013, BMW South Africa said more than 7,000 5 Series Sedans and Gran Turismos had been sold here.
The SA launch range
CAR magazine's launch report lists the South African line-up and prices: 520d, 523i, 528i, 530d, 535i and 550i, with an eight-speed Steptronic automatic. It also shows that, at launch, both the 523i and the 528i used a 3.0-litre straight-six with Valvetronic, at 150 kW and 190 kW respectively. That is a useful detail when you ask for engine parts: early 523i and 528i engines have the same 2,996 cc capacity, while the 535i used a turbocharged straight-six.
The 520d changed too
In September 2014 BMW South Africa announced a new 520d with a new-generation four-cylinder diesel from BMW's modular engine family, raising output to 140 kW. So a 2011 520d and a 2015 520d have different engines. If you need an engine, turbo, injectors or timing parts, the year and the VIN are essential. Our BMW fuel injection guide explains that system.
The F10 M5
CAR magazine records that the F10 M5 used a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8. Its parts are specific to the M5; see our BMW M5 page.
What to send
Year, badge, saloon, Touring or Gran Turismo, and the part, plus the VIN from your registration certificate. For lights, bumpers and mirrors, tell us whether the car has the M Sport package and send a photo of the damaged part.
