How we source E60 parts
Stripped from accident-damaged BMW cars, then tested
- Over 15 years stripping accident-damaged vehicles for used parts.
- Removed carefully and tested before a part is sold, so you're not paying for something that doesn't work.
- Matched to your car — send the year, engine and VIN if you have it, and we'll check it's the right part.
Parts for the E60 5 Series
The E60 is the fifth-generation 5 Series saloon, built from July 2003 to 2010, with the E61 as its Touring. In South Africa its V8 story had two chapters. BMW South Africa's press release on the update describes the 550i replacing the 545i as the top model, with a 4,799 cc V8 making 270 kW and 490 Nm, and notes that the six-speed manual 550i was only available in South Africa from the first quarter of 2006. A six-speed Steptronic automatic and a six-speed SMG were optional.
545i or 550i?
Both are V8s, but they are different engines: the 545i used the 4.4-litre VALVETRONIC V8 first offered in the 745i, and the 550i a 4.8-litre unit. When you ask for engine, cooling or exhaust parts, the badge and the year tell us which one to look for. If you also tell us whether the car is a manual, automatic or SMG, we can match gearbox and transmission parts properly.
The updated 530d
The same BMW release describes a new straight-six diesel for the 530d with an all-aluminium crankcase and third-generation common-rail injection with piezo injectors, an engine first used in the 7 Series. Give us the year and VIN so we match the right injection parts. Our BMW fuel injection guide covers that system.
The V10 M5
CAR magazine notes that the E60 M5 used a 5.0-litre V10. That engine was unique to the M5; see our BMW M5 page for more.
