Made in Rosslyn, Pretoria
Nissan's Rosslyn plant outside Pretoria opened in 1966 and built some of the country's most common vehicles: the 1400 bakkie (1971–2008), the NP300 Hardbody (1988–2021, around 450,000 units) and the NP200 (2008–2024), followed by the current Navara. The plant is being sold to another carmaker, and future Nissans will be imported. With the NP200 and Hardbody both out of production, used parts are how most of these bakkies stay on the road.
Passenger models have changed too: the Micra was dropped in 2022, the Almera in 2023 and the Qashqai in 2024, while the Magnite, X-Trail and Navara remain.

Will Nissan parts still be available in South Africa?
Nissan still sells the Navara, Magnite and X-Trail here, but it is selling its Rosslyn plant in Pretoria to Chery, and future Nissans will be imported. Locally built favourites like the NP300 Hardbody and NP200 are out of production, so for those bakkies used parts are often the practical route. Doors are our most-requested Nissan part, with 11 of 80 requests in the 12 months to October 2026.
