Introduction
The BMW E87 is a compact executive car which was produced by BMW from 2004 to 2012. It is the first generation of BMW 1 Series and was replaced by the F20 in 2011. It was produced in both coupe and convertible body styles and was available in three trim levels: the 118d, 120i and the 123d. For more information, see the Wikipedia page on the BMW E87.
Engine and Gearbox
The E87 was powered by a range of inline-four cylinder petrol and diesel engines and a six-cylinder petrol engine. These included the 2.0L N43B20 and 3.0L N53B30 petrol engines and the 1.6L N47D16 and 2.0L N47D20 diesel engines. All models were available with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
Design & Accessories
The BMW E87 featured a distinctive design which set it apart from its rivals. The exterior featured a sporty, aggressive look and the interior was designed to be both stylish and comfortable. It also featured a range of contemporary accessories such as Bluetooth, cruise control and a climate control system.
Suspension
The E87 was fitted with a MacPherson strut suspension up front and a multi-link suspension at the rear. Both suspensions were designed to provide a comfortable ride and good handling characteristics.
Successor
