How we source GL-Class parts
Stripped from accident-damaged Mercedes-Benz cars, then tested
- Over 15 years stripping accident-damaged vehicles for used parts.
- Removed carefully and tested before a part is sold, so you're not paying for something that doesn't work.
- Matched to your car — send the year, engine and VIN if you have it, and we'll check it's the right part.
The big Mercedes SUV
The GL-Class was a large Mercedes SUV. The name was used from 2006 to 2015, across two generations:
- X164 (from 2006): built on the same platform as the W164 ML and the W251 R-Class.
- X166 (from 2012): the second generation, which added a GL 63 AMG. At its 2016 facelift it was renamed the GLS.
If your car says GLS on the back, see our GLS parts page.
Shared parts and GL-only parts
Because the X164 shares its platform with the W164 ML and the R-Class, some mechanical parts can be common across them when the engine matches. The GL's bodywork, glass, lights and interior are its own. We confirm every part by part number against your VIN before quoting, so you are not left with a part that nearly fits.
What to send
The year, the badge on the tailgate, the colour and the VIN. For suspension or electrical parts, the VIN matters most, because specifications varied. For an engine or gearbox, add the engine number.
A quick guide: a GL built from 2006 to 2012 is the X164, and from 2012 to the 2016 facelift it is the X166. After that, the same car carried GLS badges. Tell us the year and the badge and we will take it from there.
Every part is stripped from an accident-damaged vehicle and checked before it goes out, backed by over 15 years of stripping and selling used parts. For the five-seat sibling on the same platform, see our ML parts. Selling a tired GL instead? Get an offer.
