The ML's people-carrier cousin
The R-Class was a large people carrier, built from 2004 until production ended in 2017. It shared its platform with the W164 M-Class and the X164 GL-Class, and came in two wheelbase lengths: the standard W251 and the long V251. Updates came in 2007 and 2010.
What shares with the ML and GL
Because the R-Class sits on the same platform as the W164 ML and X164 GL, some mechanical parts are common to all three when the engine matches. That widens the pool of used parts for an R-Class owner. Body panels, glass, lights and the interior are R-Class parts, and we need to know which wheelbase you have. We check every part by number before we quote.
What to send
Send the year, the badge on the tailgate, short or long wheelbase, the colour and the VIN. For an engine or gearbox, add the engine number. If the car has had a facelift-era front fitted, mention it, because the lights and bumper will follow the front, not the year.
The R-Class was updated in 2007 and again in 2010, so the year helps us match lights, bumpers and grilles. If you are not sure which wheelbase you have, a photo of the side of the vehicle is enough for us to tell.
