The small Mercedes roadster
The SLK name comes from the German for sporty, light and short. There were three generations:
- R170 (1995–2004): the original.
- R171 (2004–2010): the second generation.
- R172 (2011–2020): the third, with four-cylinder, V6 and V8 engines, petrol and diesel. From the facelift in March 2016 it was renamed the SLC.

Roof and body parts
If the roof will not open or close, tell us what it does and which part you think has failed, and send a photo of the old part if you have one. We match roof parts by part number against your VIN.
Body panels, lights and bumpers differ between the three generations, and the R172 changed at its facelift. The year and the badge on the boot are the quickest way for us to narrow it down.
Getting a price
The year is a good guide: up to 2004 is the R170, 2004 to 2010 is the R171, and from 2011 it is the R172. A car built from March 2016 on carries SLC badges.
Send the year, the derivative (SLK 200, SLK 350 and so on), manual or automatic, the colour and the VIN.
