The E-Class in a coupé suit
The first CLS, the C219, was a four-door sedan built on the W211 E-Class platform and sold as a four-door coupé. It shared major components with the E-Class, including the engines and transmissions, and had an identical wheelbase. Production ran from December 2003 to August 2023 across three generations:
- C219 (from 2004): including the CLS 55 AMG and the CLS 63 AMG.
- C218 (from 2010): plus the X218 Shooting Brake estate.
- C257 (from 2018): the last CLS.
Using E-Class parts on a CLS
Because the C219 shares engines, gearboxes and much of its running gear with the W211 E-Class, mechanical parts can sometimes come from an E-Class of the same engine. The body is all CLS: doors, glass, bumpers, lights and interior trim will only come from another CLS. We check part numbers against your VIN before we quote.
