How we source Ranger parts
Stripped from accident-damaged Ford cars, then tested
- Over 15 years stripping accident-damaged vehicles for used parts.
- Removed carefully and tested before a part is sold, so you're not paying for something that doesn't work.
- Matched to your car — send the year, engine and VIN if you have it, and we'll check it's the right part.
A bakkie built down the road in Silverton
The T6 Ranger has been assembled at Ford's Silverton plant in Pretoria since production started in 2011, and the next-generation Ranger has been built there since November 2022. The diesel engines come from Ford's Struandale plant in Gqeberha. So when you ask us for a Ranger part, the first thing we need to know is which of these trucks you have.
Which Ranger is yours?
- PX (2011–2015): 2.2 and 3.2 Duratorq TDCi diesels, plus a 2.5 petrol.
- PX MkII (2015 facelift): new front end and cabin; the same 2.2 and 3.2 TDCi engines, with a 6-speed auto offered on the high-output 2.2 from July 2016.
- PX MkIII (April 2019 facelift): added the Struandale-built 2.0 single-turbo (132 kW) and bi-turbo (157 kW) diesels and a 10-speed automatic. The 2.2 and 3.2 carried on, and the Raptor arrived in May 2019 with the 2.0 bi-turbo.
- Next generation (P703, from late 2022): 2.0 single-turbo, 2.0 bi-turbo and a new 3.0 V6 diesel.
The styling changed at the 2015 and 2019 facelifts, so give us the year and we'll match body parts and lights to the right version.
Parts Ranger owners ask about
South African buyer's guides flag a few known weak points on the 2.2 and 3.2 TDCi. The water-cooled EGR cooler can split and leak coolant, which leads to overheating. The variable-displacement oil pump is chain-driven, not self-priming, and has been known to fail early. Earlier 6-speed automatics had some torque-converter trouble, and pre-facelift 3.2s had crank position sensor, injector and turbo failures. If one of those has taken your engine or gearbox out, a tested used unit is one way to get it running again.
What to send us
Send the year, the engine (2.2, 3.2, 2.0 SiT, 2.0 BiT or 3.0 V6), single cab, Super Cab or double cab, 4x2 or 4x4, and the VIN if you have it. For a gearbox, tell us whether it is a manual, the 6-speed auto or the 10-speed. The right details mean we can quote on the right part first time. Prefer to sell the whole bakkie?
